Measure from Dimension Value

Is there a way to use a dimension value as a measure? For example, in the FoodMart demo, can I create a Calculated Member to return the day of the month from the time dimension in the Sales 2 cube? And, of course, if it is possible, how would I do that, i.e. the formula in the CM?

If the CM is returning sets, I'd like to return a sum or an average of the values.

This is an example that I would hope to extend to my own schema.

Thank you, Caralomi! That is most likely the way to go, if there is a way. I am trying to use a column that is not in the fact table itself, so the expression is going to be a bit more complex than in the example given in the documentation. Nothing I've tried so far is working the way I want it right now. Main problem is that I get a measure based on an outer join between the fact and dimension table. If I figure out a way around this, I will post the solution.
