Thread: Text File Output: LEFT pad fields

  1. #1

Default Text File Output: LEFT pad fields

I would like to have a fixed number of digits for each field in the "Table Output" step, but I need to add spaces to the beginning (instead of to the end, as the "Right pad fields" option does) of the fields until they have the specified length.

Has anyone an idea about how I can achieve this result?

    Thank in advance!

Step String-Operations is your friend, when it comes to padding.

    Strange requirement, though.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Not really strange, if the output format is a COBOL style fixed file.

I still find it strange when people store presentation formats in a database.
But maybe the thread owner wanted to write Text-File-Output instead of Table-Output:

My fault. It was the "text file output" step.

    Thank you for helping me.
