Pentaho will support any database that provides (or has available through a third party) a JDBC Driver supporting API version 2.x or above.

Please see the following - it's as close to a comprehensive list as I can imagine, but there may be others that aren't listed yet:

    Hello:
I've downloaded and installed the JDBC drivers for Informix from the IBM page.
    I'm running pentaho-demo over a red hat 9.
I'd like to know if this is the correct JDNI file for Ifx dbs.

    MySqlDS
    jdbc:mysql://localhost:1545/mprueba
    ifxjdbc
    user
    pass

    org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.MySQLExceptionSorter

    Informix

    saved in {PCI}/jboss/server/server/default/deploy as ifx-ds.xml.

    Thanks !

These forums, unfortunately, strip out XML tags. If you want someone to evaluate the configuration files, you'll need to .zip them up and post them as an attachment to the forums.

    Thanks,

    Marc

Looking at the server.log, I see the following message:

    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: IfxDS not bound

That tells me that your action sequence is asking for a JNDI name of IfxDS, and there is no IfxDS resource bound into the server. I then looked at your xxxx-ds.xml file and the other files you provided, and everything is bound as:

    IfxSqlDS

So, your problem is that your attempting to use a JNDI name that doesn't exist, and that error is listed in the server.log file. I hope this helps the community troubleshoot these kind of errors in the future.

What are you currently using the Pentaho platform for? We'd like to get to know our community, and how the product is being used.

    Take care,

    Marc

    Hello Marc:
I fixed that problem but now I get another one that say something like this:

Could not read properties file /opt/pentaho-demo/pentaho-solutions/samples/getting-started/SampleDataQuery2.xaction/SampleDataQuery2

I currently working for an enterprise wich is looking to implement BI in some aspects so im trying analize if pentaho is the best option.
So if pentaho works it will be very well known here. I promise .

    Thanks a lot. http://forums.pentaho.org/archived_att/files/all9.zip

    Hi there,

Your issue is that you have internationalization markers in your .xaction file, but no .properties files supplying those values.

For example, you have this in your .xaction file:

    Code:
    <title>%title</title>
    and

    Code:
    <description>%description</description>
    and

    Code:
    <help>%help</help>
In all these cases, the platform will see %title, %description or %help, and "think" - hey - these are internationalized strings. I need to look in the file called SampleDataQuery2.properties (if US English) or SampleDataQuery2_xx where xx is the users' locale for the title/description/help.

It seems that you started from one of the sample action sequences, and have been modifying the XML by hand. This is fine, as long as you also create the appropriate .properties files for each supplied language.

May I suggest that you use the Design Studio? It will create the .properties file for you.

    Take care,

    Marc

    Hello marc:

It's me again . I fix de '.properties' error. now i get an 'unknown source' error. this one seems more complex :S.
I tested the conection with Dbconsole that uses JDBC and it works fine.

    PD: I already use desing-studio .

    Thanks !! http://forums.pentaho.org/archived_att/files/all10.zip
