Default Command not found ./run.conf... Ubuntu install

    Hello,

I have tried to install onto two ubuntu servers. Both give the same errors when running start-pentaho.sh

    ./start-pentaho.sh
    : command not found
    : command not found
    : command not found:
    : command not found:
    : command not found:
    : command not found:
    : command not found:
./run.conf: line 52: syntax error: unexpected end of file

The rest of the startup seems to go ok, except for the last line

    ./run.sh: line 181: 29747 Killed "$JAVA" $JAVA_OPTS -DJvav.endorsed.dirs="$JBOSS_ENDORSED_DIRS" -classpath "$JBOSS_CLASSPATH" org.jboss.Main "$Q"

I really have no clue what is causing this problem, having gone through the chmod and jdk tool.jar issues, now i'm really stuck.

It sounds like the shell scripts somehow have Windows-like carriage-return/line-feed characters in 'em.

Could you give a quick check of that and see if that's the problem?

    Thanks,

That got me a bit closer,

    Here's what I'm using:
    Kubuntu 6.06
    Java SDK 1.5: $JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun/
    Latest Precompiled Demo Pentaho BI

    **
Here's what I have done so far:

    sudo chmod + x /opt/pentaho-demo/*.sh
    sudo chmod + x /opt/pentaho-demo/data/*.sh
    sudo chmod + x /opt/pentaho-demo/jboss/bin/*.sh

    sudo dos2unix /opt/pentaho-demo/*.sh
    sudo dos2unix /opt/pentaho-demo/data/*.sh
    sudo dos2unix /opt/pentaho-demo/jboss/bin/*.sh
    sudo dos2unix /opt/pentaho-demo/jboss/bin/run.conf

(Can and should i run this dos2unix command recursively on all directories containing XML, CONF and SH files?)

I have tomcat running on 8080, so I did the following:

    sudo vi /opt/pentaho-demo/jboss/server/default/deploy/pentaho.war/WEB-INF/web.xml

    Changed the line from: <param-value>http://localhost:8080/pentaho/</param-value>
    To:
    <param-value>http://localhost:8081/pentaho/</param-value>
Also I added the directory for the samples: <param-value>/opt/pentaho-demo/pentaho-solutions/</param-value>

    sudo vi /opt/pentaho-demo/jboss/server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat55.sar/server.xml
    The line:
    <Connector port="8080" address="${jboss.bind.address}"
    Changed to:
    <Connector port="8081" address="${jboss.bind.address}"

Then I start up the hypersonic & jboss server with:
    sudo sh /opt/pataho-demo/start-pentaho.sh

The hypersonic database starts up and I get Pentaho BI Platform server is ready.

Ah I thought great, its going to work? But:

    http://localhost:8081/pentaho/Navigate

    gives me:

I am not sure what to try next, any suggestions most welcome.

PS. on the 2nd machine i'm setting up (same os etc), I get a unable to allocated heap, which I guess means i'm out of memory (is only 128 MB on a xen virtual server).

    Many thanks for the help.

In searching through all the posts on this topic, it's not clear to me what version of the platform you're running.

Whew - OK, that explains a whole bunch.

Could you start with the 1.2 RC3 rpm? We've fixed a whole bunch of issues since that 1.0.

    Thanks,

    Marc
