    Default Translations needed for JFreeReport 0.8.4

    Hi,

    as the next version is now almost finished, it was time to look at the translations supplied with JFreeReport.

    Sadly we have to state that many translations are incomplete (as new dialogs were added since the last update of that resourcebundle).

    This is the current state of all available translations:

    Swedish:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * missing keys in the report converter translation
    * missing keys in the CSV, HTML, PDF, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing demo translation

    Slovenian:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * missing keys in the report converter translation
    * missing keys in the CSV, HTML, PDF, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing demo translation

    Russian:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * missing keys in the report converter translation
    * missing keys in the CSV, HTML, PDF, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing demo translation

    Polish:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * completly mssing report converter translation
    * no translation for the CSV, Html, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing keys in the PDF export dialog
    * incomplete demo translation

    Dutch:
    * missing progress dialog translation
    * missing keys in the report converter translation
    * missing keys in the CSV, HTML, PDF, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing demo translation

    Hungarian:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * missing keys in the report converter translation
    * missing keys in the CSV, HTML, PDF, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * incomplete demo translation

    French:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * missing keys in the report converter translation
    * missing keys in the CSV, HTML, PDF, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing demo translation

    Spanish:
    * misses SwingDialog translations and the progress dialog
    * completly mssing report converter translation
    * no translation for the CSV, Html, PlainText and excel export dialog
    * missing keys in the PDF export dialog
    * missing demo translation

    If you want to complete one or more of these translations, or you have a completly new localisation, please send me a mail.

    Starting with the new release, all translations are split up into several independent resourcebundles. All bundles can be found in the packages org.jfree.report.modules.gui.*.resources and for the demo in org.jfree.report.demo.resources.

    Hi,

    the resource files are located in the packages below org.jfree.report.modules.gui and for the demo in org.jfree.report.demo.resources.

    Every module contains a package resources, where you find the resource bundle implementations.

    A snapshot of the release can be found at www.sherito.org/jfreereport; or you can use the CVS to get the sources.

    Update: The swedish resources are complete - thanks goes to Thomas Dilts for his great translations

    Hello,

    I'm working with the Catalan translation of JFreeReport. Can you give me any email to send the translated files?

    Thanks a lot,

    Hi all users,

    An other thing about translations:
    If you see mistakes (or a better translation), .... remember you that you can report it, by the use of the forum (etc ...), to make JFreeReport internationalization better.

    Thx

    Hi,

    I am trying to catch up with Polish translation.

    I have a suggestion regarding resource files: there is almost no documentation in the resource java files and it is really annoying to translate these files. I have to run JFreeReport demo to find where these resources are used and how to translate them. Maybe there should be a few lines of comment in the java files or i.e. html doc with screenshots of dialogs with these resources?

    What do you think?

    Regards,
    Piotrek

    Hum,

    It's an idea, but for screenshots it means that all time JFreeReport change its gui we have to redo all screenshots, no?

    Let's Taqua say what's he think about it =)

    Yes, it's just an idea. I think that any comments in the code will be sufficient.

    Hi,

    @Nsabina: The russian translation is still incomplete, the newly added keys are not translated. If you want to take care of this, it would be really great.

    @pbzdyl: I guess, adding comments is the best solution, as most strings are not always visible (like status or error messages), adding all screenshots for all combinations would spread pain and madness among all of us

    The original plans for the 0.8.4 release contained a small utility to assist in the process of creating the translations. Sadly, the time was too short to create that tool. Especially creating non-latin translations (like russian) is a real pain at the moment (all characters are unicode escape sequences). This tool will now be included in the next release (and should be in the CVS in the next week).

    If you want to wait for this tool, then you'll get both the comments for the keys and an easy way of creating the localisations without having to do the unicode stuff manually.

    Yes, I would be interested to work on that. Will try to do it asap.

    As for the newly added keys, should the translation to be brought up to 0.8.3g or 0.8.4 ?

    Thanks,
    Sabina

    Hi,

    The 0.8.3 branch is discontinued and will not see any update releases anymore. So feeding the 0.8.4 branch would be sufficient. (most of the keys are 0.8.4 stuff only, so the old version is not that badly affected).

    Thanks,

    Hi Icarus,

    JFreeReport uses "Java translation system", for that, it uses ResourcesBundles.
    Java gets the locale of you computer and tries to load the resources file corresponding to your locale (ex: xxx.java_EN for english) and if your locale is not found, then it will load a default one.

    So if you want to do a translation, you have to create new resources files terminated by your local

    Files you have to translate are located in each subdirectories of org/jfree/report/modules/gui then in each resources directory.
    The main translation file is your model to translate (it is the english local) and have no extention.

    Bye,
    Mimil

    PS: In my JFR version the translation tool is not finished, i don't know if it is in the lastest (but i don't think so because it is not a priority task)

    Hello,

    Yes, I am
    But if you have any comments, see mistakes, or just have better translations, tell me it and I will correct.
    My translations are from the first 0.8.4, perhaps some new GUIs haven"t be translated.

    Hi,

    Yes i think sourceforge was getting some trouble with the mail (it was same with mine). It seems to be now resolved.
    You can send me it to: mimil@users.sourceforge.net
    then i will commit it for you to the 0.8.4 branch
    May the Moo force be with you,

    It's not working yet. A better way might be if you download it http://www.roumen.cz/misc/Jfree_czech.zip here.

    I can get professional grade translations doen for the following:

    Portuguese
    Chinese
    Japanese
    Spanish
    Italian

    But it costs me about 12-15 cents a word to do it. I know this is open source so I am not sure how it works - but would it be possible to get people to chip in for the language they want?

    Default Arabic translation of JFreeReport

    Hi,

    First, I'm thankfull to Mr Morgner the author of JFreeReport because it's a very helpful reprting tool.

    and to support this product ,I think to add an arabic translation to it since Iuse arabic language to develop applications, but to do this I need some help/advice to better understand the all design of JFreeReport ,because the arabic translation can affect significantly the gui of the product since it's writing from right to left and with a non latin caracter.

    Best regards
    from BestReport
