Thread: Error Accessing Sample Dashboard

    Default Error Accessing Sample Dashboard

    I downloaded the Dashboard Building Guide and tried to access the sample dashboard as described on page 3 by using the following address: http://localhost:8080/pentaho/jsp/SampleDashboard.jsp

    I get the following error displayed:

    HTTP Status 403 - Access to the requested resource has been denied

    type Status report

    message Access to the requested resource has been denied

    description Access to the specified resource (Access to the requested resource has been denied) has been forbidden.
    Apache Tomcat/5.5.17

    The sample works if I access it through the link on the samples web page on the demo site. It uses http://localhost:8080/pentaho/SampleDashboard as the link.

    Also, I tried to add a new jsp file to the jsp folder and received the same error as above. I am new to jsp and tomcat so I am not sure if I am missing something in the configuration or if it is a bug. I am using RC3 as my demo. Any ideas on what the issue is?

    Thanks

    Angry Error

    Does anyone else have this issue or have a solution? I cannot create any dashboards because I can't add any new jsp files. When I try to load a jsp file that I added to the jsp folder I get the following error:

    HTTP Status 403 - Access to the requested resource has been denied

    type Status report

    message Access to the requested resource has been denied

    description Access to the specified resource (Access to the requested resource has been denied) has been forbidden.
    Apache Tomcat/5.5.17

    Default Soluction to your question

    hi friend, for add new jsp page u should following steps:

    1.create new jsp file
    2.put file in <home dir>/joss/server/default/jsp/
    3.goto <home-dir>/joss/server/default/WEB-INF directory
    4.the web.xml file there,open that xml file

    In xml file define all jsp file.ln same format u give your file name

    Default

    Just adding to the previous post...

    You cannot directly request a .jsp file. They are protected. Instead define a servlet in the servlet section of web.xml:

    Code:
    <servlet>
      <servlet-name>Sample1</servlet-name>
      <jsp-file>/jsp/Sample1.jsp</jsp-file>
    </servlet>
    and in the servlet-mapping section, add:

    Code:
    <servlet-mapping>
      <servlet-name>Sample1</servlet-name>
      <url-pattern>/Sample1</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

    Exclamation Documentation correction

    Hi,

    In the Dashboard Building document, page 3, the dashboard sample is at

    http://localhost:8080/pentaho/SampleDashboard

    not directly to the jsp as shown.
