Thread: freeze period?

  1. #1

    Default freeze period?

Do we keep a freeze period a couple of weeks before 2.4.1GA: no new
    functionality, only bugfixes?

    Regards,
    Sven

    Default RE: freeze period?

Well I had some personal health problems so I didn't get to do what I
    planned for the 2.4.1-M2 release.
Also, the next couple of weeks I'm not going to be able to do any further
    Kettle development.
Next week I'm on a holiday for a week and the week after is reserved
    exclusively for the Metadata platform.

That being said, we can't delay 2.4.1 forever either.
So I propose to kick the remaining items from the 2.4.1 M2 release to 2.4.2
and let the 2.4.1 release slip for a few weeks.
That should give us a release somewhere in mid-april.

I'm also a big fan of the feature freeze that usually goes with an RC1
release. So perhaps we can schedule that around the 1st of april?

    All the best,

    Matt

Fine for me... if the freeze "itches" too much for some people we
could also branch out to 2.4.2, put bugfixes in 2.4.1 and 2.4.2, and
    new functionality only in 2.4.2.

    Regards,
    Sven

It's only a few weeks. We should only stop scratching for a short time.
Branching brings a lot of admin problems with it at the moment.

Let's face it, Javaforge bug tracking is not that great. If I could I would
scratch an itch or two over there, but unfortunately it's closed source.
(--> disapearing attachements because search bots pass anyone?)
