    Default Subversion + Trackers

    Dear Kettle developer,

I'm very much in favor of moving the subversion and bug tracking services
from Javaforge to Pentaho hosted services.
This is not just for performance reasons, but I would also want this to
    solve stability and availability problems.

These are the problem we're trying to solve:

    - Lingering registration problems at Javaforge
    - Javaforge web availability problems come back almost on a weekly base
    - This morning subversion access was out for half a day - again
    - "Automatic" deletion of attachements in bug/CRQ trackers (probably a
    webcrawler that does it)
    - Anonymous users that can't see certain bugs/CRQs
    - Other issues with strange security settings (anonymous can delete/change
    too many things)
    - All times are displayed in EST despite the fact that user timezone
    settings tell otherwise
    - Broken links
    - Make sure we have a regular and solid subversion backup
    - ...

Obviously we need to plan this carefully like we did for the forum, but we
would like to involve you a bit closer this time around, so if you have any
requirements or thoughts on this, please do let me know.
The less we need to migrate, the easier the migration is though.

At this moment we're looking to migrate these:
    - The subversion database WITH history
    - The open and closed bugs (general problem and comments, no attachements)
    - The open change requests and requirements (general CRQ and comments)
    - Move to a nightly build in stead of an auto-build system.

The bugs and change requests will end up in Jira (
    http://jira.pentaho.org:8080/secure/Dashboard.jspa )
The subversion database will move to the Pentaho open source subversion
    servers.

Once we get your feedback and have a list of the requirements we can make a
    timeframe for the migration.

    All the best,

    Matt

Well SVN would be needed ;-).

For the rest I wouldn't bother with the closed bugs/CRQs if they can
kept be kept read-only for a while on javaforge. And personally I
wouldn't even bother with the open ones. It may make for a good one-
time cleanout. We'll get the bugs close to 0 ... lol, and if people
really want a CRQ they will copy and paste it.

I've used JIRA in the past, it's pretty good. But once or twice a year
its indexing system also "blows up", disallowing any changes until an
    administrator reindexes.

    Regards,
    Sven
