    Default BIRT, externalize database information

    Hi,

I have to use BIRT. I designed some reports. In all the .rptdesign files are declared the information about the database (url, driver, login, password), I would like to know if it's possible to declare these information just once, in a .properties files for example. Then each .rptdesign file will take the information where it is.
I will have to deploy my reports on a server and it would be great if I didn't have to change all the .rptdesign files..
    Can you help me?
    Thanks

    Hi Nicolep,

The database information in the .rptdesign files depends on BIRT.

As far as I know, it is not possible to read this from within Pentaho.

You can do it by using when developing the report, both the JDBC info (Username, etc...) and a JNDI name, which should be available from the context where the report is running (Tomcat, JBoss, etc...). In you data source, specify a JNDI name, it should work.

    Goog luck!
