Default Still problem with text file import

    Hello,

sorry to bother, I've reopened the ticket
    http://www.javaforge.com/proj/tracke...o?task_id=5493

because even with the workaround it seems i can't make Kettle 2.5 read a text file from a network share.

Could anyone have a look at it and tell me if I'm doing something wrong ?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,
    Paolo

    Hi,

use the SMB URL as stated in the documentation. However, as this support is still experimental, you'll have to build the VFS-libraries and the sandbox code of VFS (and you'll need to add some additional libraries) or SMB support will be unavailable.

    http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/vfs/filesystems.html

If you dont like building VFS on your own (I would hate the idea) you can also mount your network share (or using Windows-speach: simply map your network share to a drive letter) and use the ordinary file-URLs.

    Have fun,

    Actually, my tests tell otherwise.
If you have access to a share through \\somehost\sharename\somefile.txt"
Then the latest patches will grant you access to the file.
If you do NOT have access rights, it will give an file not found error, the way it should.

We convert the platform incompatible filename "\\somehost\sharename\somefile.txt" to "file:////somehost/sharename/somefile.txt" too.

I wanted to include the SMB filesystem type of VFS, but for the life of me, I can't get it to compile.

    HTH,

    Matt
