Default Set variables from 'property' file

Is there anyway to set one (or more) variables from a property file?
I guess i could define a text input in CSV mode using an = for a separater and then some javascript to process the resulting rows into variables?

but is there a better way (like some code that explicitly knows that its a property file)?

What? You mean like setting kettle.properties, as described in the manual in the chapter on variables?

I don't know, it just might be possible ;-)

well, i think yes, i.e., a 'set variables' transform that sets variables like kettle does from kettle.properties but from an arbitrary properties file.

Alternatively, how does one set a variable from within javascript?

In javascript, you need to grab a hold of class KettleVariables.
