Thread: Cube Designe STEP 2 error

  1. #1

Cool Cube Designe STEP 2 error

I use CubeDesigner 0.72 on Windows 2003 Sever, and I can not browse database object (like table and so on) in the STEP 2 panel. I user Oracle 10GR2, (I have also changed the Oracle JDBC driver in the CubeDesigner ./jdbc directory for the one Oracle 10GR2 provided). But I can connect to Oracle in the STEP 1.

I have tried CubeDesigner 0.7, the result is the same.

    Any clue helps, thanks~

    Angry CubeDesigner Step 2 error

The same result, even the database is DB2 UDB v8.2 on Windows 2003 Server.

This is likely a problem with the version of Java you have installed. If you are currently running 1.6, try backing down to 1.5 and it should work fine.

There is any idea about when this compatibility issue will be fixed ?

I can change my whole enviromt and get ack to 1.5 .... Im using the *.exe version.. there is another one ? so I can start using 1.5 without change my env.

    thanks.

You can try leaving 1.6 installed/configured, but have a separate installation somewhere on your machine and explicitly reference the 1.5 JDK by doing the following:

    1) create a shortcut to Cube Designer exe
    2) Modify the Target to look like C:\path\CubeDesigner.exe -vm C:\Sun\SDK\jdk\bin\java.exe where the referenced jdk is your 1.5 instance.

Use the shortcut to launch the designer. This will also keep a command window up when running the Cube Designer that will show any stack traces you might be getting on step 2.

    HTH,
    Jake

Review my post in this thread about properly configuring your JNDI connections and let me know if you still have an issue.

    Thanks,
    Jake

    Hi Jake,

I have configured my JNDI in the same way as described by you in your post. Infact my Report design wizard works fine but somehow the Cube designer is not working. I am providing the same JNDI detail as in the report design wizard, but getting a message "An error occured. The message returned was null", when I test the connection.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
