    Question Using the "custom" process action in xaction

    hi,
    i want to call a class using "custom" option in xaction. Is that possible, if so, could you please give pointers of how to do it.

    Default Wiki

    The wiki has some documentation

    http://wiki.pentaho.org/display/Pent...ing+Components

    and more specifically here.

    http://wiki.pentaho.org/display/Pent...Component+APIs

    I have done this extending org.pentaho.plugin.ComponentBase and it was pretty easy. Once you get your class make sure it is in the classpath. You can jar it up and place it in server\default\deploy\pentaho.war\WEB-INF\lib

    Then add a custom step in you action sequence with the correct package/classname and it should work.

    I hope that helps,

    Brit

    Default Runtime Context

    I have not returned anything from my custom class so i am not the best person to answer, but I believe by extending componentBase you have access to the runtime context and can do this:

    runtimeContext.setOutputValue(outputName, value);

    where outputName matches the name of an output defined in your action sequence.
