    Default Pentaho Bi

    Hi,

    I am trying to use Pentaho Bi.I was able to work with demo version of Pentaho BI and I also successfully deployed penthao BI on Tomcat.
    Now I would like to use Pentaho BI on Tomcat and my MySQL database.
    Pentaho BI should get data from tables I created in MySQL.
    I don't want to migrate sampledata in hypersonic to MySQL.
    Can anyone please help me .
    I searched the forum but didnot get it done.

    Thanks

    hi !

    You should create a jndi connection : http://wiki.pentaho.org/confluence/d...ho+BI+Platform

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply,I have created the jndi connection.But I don't understand where and how do we need to create a sample data source on tomcat.
    The link u said talks about Jboss only.

    Thanks

    Hi ,
    I followed these steps:
    1. Built pentaho.war for Tomcat 5.5 for Mysql5
    2.Deployed pentaho.war on tomcat/webapps
    3.Added Mysql driver in /usr/local/jakartatomcat/common/lob
    4.Modified web.xml and server.xml
    5.started mysql server
    6.started tomcat
    7.Created a report using design studio

    When I try to view the report I am getting the error.
    My doubt we have pentaho-data folder which is used as database for Hypersonic.
    Now I am trying to use my MySQL database .So i feel there is no need of penthao-data folder data.I started mysql server.Is it correct?

    Thanks

    can you please provide some logs?

    if you still did not solve the tomcat JNDI data source issue here is a sample you can use,
    shutdown tomcat and create a file in /pentaho/META-INF/conext.xml
    and insert the following into that conext.xml created

    (note that you need to change the username and password of the
    database user and the change the name and host of the database)

    Code:
    <Context        path="/pentaho" docBase="pentaho"
                    debug="99"      reloadable="true"
                    crossContext="true">

    <Resource name="jdbc/YourDataSourceNameHere"
          type="javax.sql.DataSource"
          auth="Container"
          driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
          url="jdbc:mysql://localhost/youTargetDatabaseHere"
          username="@database.username"
          password="@database.password"
          maxWait="10000"
          maxActive="100"
          maxIdle="30"/>

    </context>
    and restart pentaho/tomcat now your solution can use the JNDI datasource defined above
    which is :
    YourDataSourceNameHere
    in the sample context.xml above

    good luck
