    Default Move/copy files

There is a task to create empty file and to delete a file... but is it possible to move files? (my idea is to move a file after correct processing)

I can do this with shell scripts, but it would make it system-dependent

    Tips appreciated

    Thanks

nope - unless you use the SFTP Put File Step.

Would be very nice to have though, especially with the VFS support instead of the SFTP-specific step.

FYI - you can use the Text Input/Text Output to essentially copy a file (then use the Delete File afterward), but you need to be careful as it *may* change the encoding of the file on you.

oh, well, thanks for the answer. I'll use my batch file to do that. It would, indeed, be very helpful to have that task available.

Will this task be available to use vfs and also simply transfer files? I will need something that downloads ftp files. If that doesn't exist, I'll try to write something that is based on vfs which possibly will transfer and move files.

--> Yes. I tested with files from FTP server (copy then remove). It works
    great

    Hi Marco,

It's not a plugin. It's in PDI 3.0 and the futur 2.5.2 (next release)

    Arrow FTP : Implicit

    Hi Sven,

I have a doubt regarding the FTP tool in PDI- I am using the Kettle 3.0.2 version, does the FTP support FTP over implicit / explicit connection ... I was trying to connect to an explicit connection but could not ...

This is what am trying to achieve .. connect to an FTP over explicit connection, check for zip files and download them, aftet download the file should be moved to an archive folder in the same FTP server..., Is this possible with Kettle .. please advice ..

    Thanks in advance

    Best Regards
    BiL

Make a different thread if it's not about the same as the original thread.

What would you mean with implicit/explicit ftp?

You can move/copy files, but not on the remote server... ftp is limited in that sense.

    Arrow

Ok Sven, I will create a new thread ...

Implicit / Explicit FTP's are getting connected over SSL

Implicit FTP is connected on port 990 & Explicit is connected on port 21, but the connection switches to secure mode as the it is establised.

    Thanks & Regards
    BiL
