    Default About Insert/Update Step

    Dear all..

    why can't I insert/update a source field, named date,
into a target field, named date?

I guess this is because "date" is a key word for Kettle and inappropriate to name for the target field.
is that right?? if not, wuts the probable reasons?

expect to recieve ur replies!! Thx so lots~

    Jeff

Kettle has no keywords... it all depends on your specific target database. Try whether inserting such a row works interactively, if it doesn't there's little chance kettle will be able to.

Well, let us know the database you are using and the keyword with which you are seeing a problem. We maintain lists of all the reserved keywords so that we can apply appropriate quoting algorithms.

    To Sven..

You r right! it all depends on the target database!

the field, "date", in the target SQL Server database becomes
"[date]" due to that the field, date, is set to a Primary Key. so the field name that Kettle can know is "[date]" not "date". I confuse the correct field name!!

    anyway~ it works^^
