Default Create a cube using remote database

    Hi,
I have a created cube using database on remote machine.Every seemed fine.I published the cube .But When I try to view that cube I am getting this page cannot be accessed directly.
How can we solve this? What might be the reason for this?

    Thanks

In my opinion there are lot's of possible reasons for this generic error message to appear.
1st : do not use spaces in names (nowhere if you can).

    Hi,

I haven't used any spaces in names and preview is also giving the same result.
    How can we solve this?
I have created cubes with local database and are working fine.

    Thanks

Have you tested you configured database connexion (1st screen) ? Does something happens in the system window when you try a preview ?

    hi,
I am having the same problem,

I was using cube designer, and i could set up the connection to a remote oracle database.
and i could see the tables and build the cube and publish it,
but when it try to generate the preview, it is just giving me a blanc screen, even no error message.
and in the pentaho server logs, i can see alot of errors of jsp errors, like

    14:27:00,390 ERROR [STDERR] javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: com.tonbeller.jpivot
.olap.model.OlapException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

when i repeat the same process for a local table like the one described in the manuel hibernate, it is working very fine and i am able to see the cube.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nathalie

Default Check the datasource on the server

If you created a cube for a remote database, you defined a connection in the cube editor.
Probably, the server you published the cube doesn't know about the database server connection.
In order ro publish and to test succesfully the cube the same connection must exists on the BI server.

For example, if the connection name in the cube is Conn1 then (I'm using the pentaho PCI) in the file <pentaho-home>\bi-server\pentaho-solutions\system\simple-jndi\jdbc.properties
put the same connection (below I assume a remote mysql server):

    Conn1/type=javax.sql.DataSource
    Conn1/driver=com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
    Conn1/url=jdbc:mysql://<remote-mysql-server>:3306/<remote-db-name>
    Conn1/user=<user>
    Conn1/password=<password>
