    Hi,
We have a requirement to access a datawarehouse using OLE DB and we'd like to use kettle. We can't see any direct support in kettle and i was just wondering what options are open to us!
    Thanks,
    Josephine

Not a lot... or rather not a lot I would be caugh red-handed with.

    1) OLEDB is more .Netish not java
    2) Usually you have OLEDB on top of ODBC, so if this is the case you could try directly pluggin in on the ODBC level
    3) There are also adaptors out there that will mimic one using the other, but you would be just making it harder on yourself.

What kind of datawarehouse do you want to access via OleDB ... SQLServer?

    Regards,
    Sven

SAS datawarehouse is the store we will be accessing, http://www.sas.com

    Are you familiar with it?

Dabbled a bit with SAS ETL Studio, got tangled up with SAS repository security

    SAS/Share with ODBC or JDBC?

Hasn't been confirmed yet, we need to make contact with the SAS admins.

Looking through the SAS website, there does seem to be a JDBC driver available to connect to SAS. Is this a component that will need to be purchased separately? Is it usually available by default? Once we do get connected through JDBC, is the SQL pretty standard after that?

    Thanks for your help!

Share is an extra component, but most of the times when you have SAS/Base it's not long before Share comes in.

For the moment there's no explicit SAS support in Kettle, and I do know SAS's driver is an odd one (no transactions, ...) so your mileage may vary. I doubt any of the developers have currently access to SAS as their price is usually in the seven digit range (in euro's)

    Regards,
    Sven
