Default Asking about NLS data in UTF8 or UTF16 processing by Kettle

Asking about NLS data in UTF8 or UTF16 processing in Kettle.

In the release examples, I saw Javascript Base64 decoder and encoder with UTF8.

Does it mean that we can process data in UTF8, that is multibyte National Language Support data in Kettle's data movement?

    Thanks,

The standard Java encoding is UTF-8.
That means that all data that Pentaho touches is handled internally as UTF-8.
It also means that all data is converted from and to UTF-8, either automatically or specifically specified in steps like "Text File Input", "Excel Input".
UTF-16 is certainly one of the many supported encodings that you can specify.

Sure... I don't do it myself but I've seen some screenshots/transformations of people using Chinese.
