Question BIRT RCP Designer and Pentaho

    Hi all,

I'm working on pentaho environment. We decided to use BIRT RCP Designer instead of Pentaho Report Designer because we think that BIRT is more closely match with our need.
The problem is.. I'm successfully preview the report in Birt RCP Designer but I get nothing when I deploy it in Pentaho solutions based on this tutorial: http://wiki.pentaho.org/display/PentahoDoc/BIRT.
There's no error message, i just get nothing.

    My environment:
    Pentaho version: 1.2.0 RC3
    Birt Designer version: 2.2.1

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Pentaho BI-Stack only supports BIRT version 2.1.0,not higher.
To upgrade BIRT in Pentaho BI-Stack follow this thread: http://forums.pentaho.org/showthread...light=BIRT+2.2
It also works for BIRT 2.2.1

You can then run BIRT reports in html and pdf. To run xls and doc files have a look in JIRA, there is also a patch available.

    All -

I implemented BISERVER-481 along with some changes submitted by Bart Maertens. I also upgraded to BIRT 2.2.1. I added the hello_world.rptdesign from the BIRT samples to the test solution. The BIRT-hello_world.xaction worked but the other samples that go against sample data do not. I get an Authentication Error from JDBC. It may be the old report spec or maybe how the data source is set up. I don't know much about BIRT so if someone from the community can have a look at it, that would be great.

You can get the nightly build of the PCI that has the new version from:
    ftp://anonymous@community.pentaho.or...7.0/build_923/

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Default BIRT: Authentication error

The authentication error is thrown because the reports still use an old password.
Changing the password to 'password', as it is now in sampledata, solves this error.
I'm looking into the reports now to make them work against BIRT 2.2.1.

    Regards,

    Bart
