Talking job, kitchen and scheduling enhancement

I suspect job scheduling is a weak link in PDI. We rarely run a job once manually. Scheduled runs are the norm. We end up throw kitchen tasks on schedulers.

It would be nice if the scheduling in [Start] job entry were more flexible, as what you get from Windows task scheduler. This would require a scheduling engine onto which kitchen simply submits jobs. The engine provides status views, history and performance reporting, job persistence, recovery from machine shutdown, etc.

    Default java-based job scheduler

I found a java-based job scheduler that works well with PDI. I simply schedule kitchen.bat with parameters specified in the job definition. This satisfied our needs for running transformation/jobs. The product is open source available at http://jobscheduler.sourceforge.net/...e_paper_en.htm.
