Default Oracle Blob and Clob types

    Hi all,
Does Kettle support oracle Blob and Clob types?
    I explain:
I have a source table (oracle 9) and I created a target table having the same structure of the source using Kettle "Generate DDL" on oracle 10g. I want just to copy the source table into the target.
    - My source table contains one field of type BLOB
    - My source table contains 107 row
    - My source table contains 104 row having a not null value of the BLOB field

I dragged and dropped one input table and one output table, linked the with a hope, connected them with my source and target tables. and I executed my transformation. the transformation has been executed successfully. but when I executed the query:
    select count(*) from provincia where logo is not null;
it returns 8. That means only 8/104 BLOB have been transferred or I don't know?.
    How do you interpret that?

    Thanks in advance!
    Sidi.

Did you use Binary type in PDI?

I think yes, because when I click on "show layout of [my table]" button it shows that my blob field is:
    - type: binary
    - length: -
    - prcesion: 0

    Thanks in advance!

Remove your output and write it to a file.

Remove your table output ... read the blobs/clobs and write them to a text file.. it's easier to see what you get out of the database that way... to determine whether it's a problem in select or a problem on inserting.

When I removed my output table and changed it with a text file, I select just my blob field from the input table. I executed my transformation it finishes with an error saying:

    "Text file output.0 - ERROR (version 2.5.0, build 25002 from 2007/05/04 00:20:04) : Error writing line :java.lang.NullPointerException"

and when I open my text file I see that just the constant string "LOGO" has been writen there (the name of my blob column).
Can I write my blob which is an image on text file or I have to change the file extension to .doc for example (I did it but it's the same)??

    Thanks in advance!

Attached Ktr is the changed version of the one in the kettle tips week 6... it works for me in v3.0.0: it will upload all .txt files in the same directory as where you place it to a specific table.
