In a nice - non-hacky - way no ... only via supplying arguments.
It's an ETL tool ... you can write of course stuff before it that collects arguments in a nice way. If you run via spoon you can enter arguments there of course.

There are still some examples of 2.5 that shows javascript putting a dialog up, which may still work in 3.0 but since 3.0 the ui and engine are also explicitly split it's probably not a good idea. ETL usually runs in the background, and in normal deployments won't even have a user to "talk" to.

    Regards,
    Sven

Using the Pentaho platform you can create Xactions that will ask for input and then run a transformation using these parameters. That sort of thing still maintains separation of GUI and engine.

No, absolutely not. Examples are almost impossible to find.
I would say it's even pointless to look for them.

Perhaps you can download the Pentaho platform demo or look at the documentation, but your chances of finding anything would be very low.

    Have a nice day!

    Question

    Hi,

I am a very new user of Pentaho and a non - ETL person. I am using Pentaho 3.1 and have a similar question.
I want to prompt the user for entering the RSA TOKEN before we use either the FTP or SSH components. This token is a number that changes every few minutes and required for authentication.
    Your help anticipated and appreciated.
    Thanks.
