Thread: Unzip Step - Very Very Slow

Default Unzip Step - Very Very Slow

    Hi Guys,

I tried using the Unzip step to unzip a file of more than 300 MB, that when unzipped grows to aprox. 2.7 GB.

In 3 minutes the bytes unzipped where aprox. 65 K, and using 7-zip utility it unzips the whole file in 4 minutes.

    Any advice?

    Regards,

    Ben

    Try this one : http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...kage_id=186321

If it doesn't work search for "pentaho data integration" on sf.net ... it's under "Pentaho Data Intelligence"

Currently on there are the 2.5.2 and 3.0.1

    Regards,
    Sven

I tried to download the latest kettle.jar from sf.net but this unzip bug fix does not seem to be done to that release. The date of kettle.jar in sf.net is 11/05/2007, where as the bug in unzip is fixed only 11/10. So I would appreciate if the link to the latest kettle.jar for 2.5.2 version is given to me.
    Thanks

    Try this build: http://kettle.s3.amazonaws.com/kettle.jar
Place the jar file in the lib/ directory.

It's not from an official 2.5.3, something I just build on my machine.
Perhaps we should start to think about releasing that version.
Let us know how it runs for you ;-)

Thanks Matt. It worked and I was able to unzip in about 21 seconds of 6M to 158M. Can I use the jar with 2.5.2 base for now?
    Thanks

Yes, it should be very safe, it only contains 2.5.2 bug fixes.

Thanks Matt for the quick turn-around; it certainly helped to close the task.
    Thanks
