Dear Kettle devs,

We've let version 3.0.1 fly, it's available on sourceforge for download:

The change log is pretty impressive and this thing is getting more stable
every day, so we branched off 3.0.1 as well as a 3.0.2 branch for bug fixes.

At the same time I flagged trunk to be 3.1.0 and we can slap some new things
in there if we would like to do so (and I guess we always do).

New things we'll be doing are:
- remote monitoring
- remote management: stopping, starting, pause/resume, inspect
- performance management / monitoring / alerting
- scheduling in Carte as well

That sort of stuff. Pentaho has a really nice management console in the
making that can monitor all the BI servers in the corporation. The idea is
to tie our Carte servers (whole clusters, repositories, etc) into it as well
as Mondrian instances, etc.

The mgt console is closed source and meant to increase value for our paying
customers. However, the whole API, architecture etc is per usual open
source. That will allow us to create nice reports on the raw data for
example pretty easily. (planning to use RDBMS to log performance data, etc)

For 2008 we also have plenty of other things on the agenda such as:
- Open source profiling architecture (discovery, data and relationship)
- UI reviews, shared objects, simplifying the database dialog, etc.
- ...

Per usual though, what will actually be done in 2008 will be far more

All the best,

Matt Casters
