Default Excel Input - use variables for sheetname, col.nr, row.nr

    Hi,

is it possible to use variables to define name of the sheet, column und row numbers to start reading fixed data structures with variable position (col, row) in excel?

    thanx!

No... similar reason why database type is not variable sensitive... easy to implement, but it would open up a lot of problems.

Is it possible to implement sheet name only as a variable?

I am loading parameters from a dB and part of it is loading the following:

Path where file is kept - Using a Variable for this
name of XLS file - Using a Variable for this
Name of the sheet - Need a Variable for this

If it is not possible to use a variable for the sheet name, is there some way of returning the names of the sheets or referencing the sheet in some way. "file.sheet.0" for example

I would be willing to write a custom control if you could point me in the right direction of where this is in the source.

    Thanks

Look at the "Content" tab on the Excel input properties dailogue.

    It's all there.

Thanks for the reply. Had a look at the Content tab, but this is not what I am after. There are no options to use variables there and the only reference to the sheet is for output to the next step.

I do not think this functionality exists in the current implementation and was wondering how to go about getting this added?

    Thanks
