Rather than going through the trouble of creating an icon for a new
plugin, step, or job entry, you can now use a copy of the generic
icons that are checked into the Kettle project. This also has the
added benefit of alerting the Pentaho design team that new
functionality has been added and they will create a shiny new custom
set of icons for you!

Here are the generic names and what they should be used for. I ask
that you make a copy of the generic and reference the copy using the
three\four letter .png name of your choice, rather than referencing
the generic name. This way, when we drop in the custom set of icons,
it only requires a change to the icons and not the code\xml.

In the project's ui\images directory:

Bulkin.png - use this icon for any database bulk load entries that you
might create - for an example, under Bulk Loading in Spoon's Job
explorer, checkout the BulkLoad into Mysql.
BulkOut.png - use this icon for any database to file bulk load entries
that you might create - for an example, under Bulk Loading in Spoon's
Job explorer, checkout the BulkLoad from Mysql into file.

GenericJob.png - use this icon for any new job entry plugins.
GenericTransform.png - use this icon for any new transformation step
plugins.

Plugin.png - use this icon for any misc. features you may add that
need an icon... this one is intentional obtuse, so the designers catch
it and generate custom icons for these features ASAP.

Enjoy!
