Thread: [ask]publishing error on workbench : User authentication failed

  1. #1

    Default [ask]publishing error on workbench : User authentication failed

    I get that message every time I want to publish to local pentaho repository.
    I am using the default admin login(joe,password) and already set the publishing password in publisher_config.xml .
    I am using ubuntu 7.10 32 bit desktop ed, and tomcat 6.0.

    Any suggestion for solution, thanks.

    sorry for putting this thread again here.

    Well I'd guess you're doing something wrong as it works fine for me. You're going to have to come up with something more descriptive though, logs of some description would probably be handy.

    ok, for the information , I am using the sampledata database ,
    and this is the xml file I created with workbench.

    <Schema name="Schema sampledata">
    <Cube name="orderfact" cache="true" enabled="true">
    <Table name="orderfact">
    </Table>
    <Dimension type="StandardDimension" foreignKey="PRODUCTCODE" name="products">
    <Hierarchy name="New Hierarchy 0" hasAll="true" allMemberName="allproducts" primaryKey="PRODUCTCODE" primaryKeyTable="PRODUCTS">
    <Table name="PRODUCTS">
    </Table>
    </Hierarchy>
    </Dimension>
    <Measure name="qty" column="QUANTITYORDERED" aggregator="sum" visible="true">
    </Measure>
    <Measure name="totalprice" column="TOTALPRICE" aggregator="sum" visible="true">
    </Measure>
    </Cube>
    </Schema>

    then this is the picture for publishing windows :

    and this is the error issued picture :

    I do not know where is the log placed, please guide me, thanks for the help

    Finally, after no change at all, just change the OS into Windows XP,
    I could pass the first part to publish the schema,
    but there is a bug in workbench for publishing, though I checked the "remember these settings" checkbox, I must retype the passwords each time I want to publish.

    But then I have this problem :

    that said "the jndi datasource is not defined on server"

    I have add the server.xml with database connection lines, and also in web.xml in pentaho web-inf folder there is this lines :
    <resource-ref>
    <description>sampledata Connection</description>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/SampleData</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>

    what am I missing?

    thanks

    I suppose you need a copy of the database driver and place it inside the workbench '/drivers' directory. This might solve the problem.

    Goodluck!
