    Default Problem with FTP in Spoon

    Hi all,

    I am a new user to Pentaho , currently iam working with spoon, trying to automate a download process, basically iam trying to get a file from one of the websites, unfortunately iam unable to get the file from the website. the website is ftp://ftp.fedbizopps.gov/

    The http step does not handle ftp, and the ftp step does not handle URLs ... you can uses the ftp step, but without ftp:// and using userid and password.

    Why are you "unable"? What have you tried? What result did you get? Can you post your attempt at the PDI job or transformation?

    Default this is how i got the error

    The ftp website iam able to open through browser with out the user name and password.
    but when iam trying to this is the error

    The website does require authentication. It just allows the anonymous account. IE will attempt to log in as anonymous automatically which is probably why it "works" for you in your browser.
    Just fill in the name "anonymous" in the username and an e-mail address in the password field and the FTP step should be able to connect properly.
