    Default Transformation to test database connection

    Hi

    what steps should we follow to develop the transformation which will check whether the database connection is up and return 'y' otherwise 'n'

    Post how can we develop a transformation/job to return Y if table exists otherwise N

    Hi

    How can we develop the transformation trasnformation to check if table exist and it returns Y other wiese it should return N, even if database connection fails.

    For the table check... there is a job entry in 3.x that will check for that but it will blow up when the database is not up of course.

    For the checking of the database, make a transformation that does a dummy select ("select * from dual" on Oracle e.g.) and wrap the transformation in a job... in the job you can determine whether it succeeds not... assuming the dummy select always works.
