    Default

    Hi shin,

think of data processed by Kettle as stream. We have a source (input step) providing a stream of data (tuples). Data is processed by different steps. The update step take one tuple each time and looks whether it finds the key (part of the tuple) in the table. If so it will update some fields in this record. Otherwise it will insert the fields (which have to include the key - next time it can find this record via its key).
Therefore the update step divide between table fields and stream fields (= input field = field with new/latest data).
