Using the metadata as datasource for birt reports

Is there any possiblity to fetch the data for birt report through the metadata which is already published in the Pentaho BI server?

I am looking for a document or some reference that could detail me about how I can make this possible.

I have few more queries that is given below.

Is there any possibility I can use the mondrian cube as the datasource for birt reports?

I am planning for an architecture for my BI & Reporting system that which should have a metadata layer, this layer will help me to manage and manipulate the data which I am getting from the database.

At the same time I am planning to analyze is Jasper reports. There they have given a way that I can use MQL(Metadata Query Langugae) as data source. this still need to be implemented and see.

Any thoughts on this will be really appreciated.
