Default Running Kettle on BI Platform

    Hi all,

I'm working with Pentho for the first time now and I must say that I'm impressed till now. I normally work with Informatica Powercenter to build ETL jobs.
I've installed the bi-server / platform a couple of weeks ago and it's runs fine although there are still some problems to be solved but those are not blocking

The point now is that i want to run the kettle jobs on the bi-server and start them with the bi-platform. I succesfully created a repository for kettle where my jobs are stored. I'm a bit lost to get kettle working on the platform! I'm sure that there are some *.xml files that i have to change.

Is there someone with know-how to get it all running on the bi platform?

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards!

unless you want to run the transformations by calling them in xactions you generally don't run them on the BI server, just cron them from windows or linux and call them with kitchen etc
This is a signature.... everyone gets it.

Ok that could be an option. If I create a xaction for every transformation, i can start it by using the BI Platform right? I try to start some sample transformations and i get the following errors

Fout: Kettle.ERROR_0001 - The Kettle repository sttings have not been set (org.pentaho.platform.plugin.action.kettle.KettleComponent)
Fout: RuntimeContext.ERROR_0006 - Action components can not be validated: SampleTransformation.xaction (org.pentaho.platform.engine.services.runtime.RuntimeContext)
Fout: SolutionEngine.ERROR_0006 - Actie sequentie validatiion failed (org.pentaho.platform.engine.services.solution.SolutionEngine)

    Sure een setup thing somewhere>

When you specify a name and a directory, it refers to a certain transformation in a Kettle repository.
To set that repository up itself, look for example here: http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/PentahoDoc/Kettle

If you're running a transformation or job from a file I believe the tags to set are "transformation-file" and "job-file"
