Thread: FireChange

    Default FireChange

I doubt I am the only one with this question...

I don't quite understand when it is neccessary to call firechange. I know it is called in the Charts example that use MetaLayers, but it seems to be implicitly called when using xaction components. Is this correct? Are there javadocs or any other documentation regarding Dashboards?

All the docs are in the distribution folder for cdf-samples.

Actually, I think fireChange is not documented there (one more for the todo list).

It's very simple: when you pass a parameter to a selector, all your components that are listening to that parameter will change. Dashboards.fireChange allows you to trigger a change in other parameters. eg: you can define a component to have a listener on variable called "myVar". You can then use Dashboards.fireChange('myVar','1234'), and all the components listening to that variable will automagically update
