    Default spoon.sh SOLARIS 10 SPARC

    Hi,

I have a problem running Pentaho PDI on SOLARIS 10 SPARC.

    java version "1.6.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.3-b02, mixed mode)

    bash-3.00$ uname -a
    SunOS blade2 5.10 Generic_137137-09 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-T6300
    bash-3.00$

The repository dialog opens and in separate XWindow opens firefox with welcome page. After closing firefox the repository dialog keeps open and takes no input signals.

    Any Idea ?

    BRs,
    M.

Why not simply do like everyone else and run Spoon on a workstation and kitchen/pan/carte on the server?

    Default spoon.sh SOLARIS 10 SPARC

    Dear Matt,

Thank you for answer, just I am wondering and playing all day :-) why I can not get it run on Solaris 10 SPARC 64b. The reason is the having spoon running would give me more functionality for evalute logs and perfomance of it. Spoon has perfomance graph and so on ...

Well, if you're the persisting kind, try editing the ~/.kettle/.spoonrc file and set

    ShowRepositoriesAtStartup=N

So that might get you passed your initial problem.

Also try to grab an SWT SPARC update, at the bottom of this page:

    http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/...0100/index.php

    Put swt.jar in libswt/solaris

    HTH,
    Matt

Default SOLARIS 10 SPARC Cairo problem !

    Dear Matt,

    Thank you for the hint,

Actually problem was with the Solaris and Motif swt.jar.
After I replaced swt.jar with the Solaris 10 (SPARC/Motif) it was same BUT! Solaris 10 (SPARC/GTK 2) worked fine ! BUT ! Another problem new/old came when I tried to create new transformation:

ERROR 11-04 23:07:36,334 - Spoon - An unexpected error occurred in Spoon:
Unable to load graphics library [Cairo is required] (java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-cairo-gtk-3536 or swt-cairo-gtk in swt.library.path, java.library.path or the jar file)
ERROR 11-04 23:07:36,338 - Spoon - org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Unable to load graphics library [Cairo is required] (java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-cairo-gtk-3536 or swt-cairo-gtk in swt.library.path, java.library.path or the jar file)

I tried to install cairo software for solaris from www.sunfreeware.com and link *.so libraries to LD_LIBRARY_PATH but no success ...

Can you give a hint ? I think this problem has arrised before but I did not find any solution on Solaris system !

    M.

    Default spoon.sh SOLARIS 10 SPARC - solution

    Solution!

I had to install firefox 3.0.8 for SOLARIS 10 SPARC.
    It installed to /opt/sfw/lib/firefox3

by default firefox was 2.0.x version and did not suport gtk

and in spoon.sh I exported lib path:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/sfw/lib

    and it works !

    Hi,

we are struggling with the same problem. We try to use the Solaris 10 (SPARC/GTK 2) swt.jar, but run into other trouble than martin.novoty.
    Code:

    PangoFc will not work correctly.
This probably means there was an error in the creation of:
      '/opt/sfw/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You should create this file by running:
      pango-querymodules > '/opt/sfw/etc/pango/pango.modules'

Wrong installation of your Sun system?... I would suggest to rerun athena setup... or follow the 'pango-querymodules > '/opt/sfw/etc/pango/pango.modules' in your own error message.

    Regards,
    Sven

I can retry the athena setup.
I have done the 'pango-querymodules > '/opt/sfw/etc/pango/pango.modules' before and get the same file as we had before and of course the same error.
