    We are going to have a community meeting via WebEx where Pentaho architects will be presenting the metadata architecture and roadmap to the community, asking for feedback and answering questions.

    Hi all,

    A very interesting meeting - thanks very much!

    It sounds very interesting, can't wait to start playing with it.

    The only question i can think of, is when will the EE metadata chart editor in dashboard designer be available?

    Yeah i agree, great meeting and very informative.
    We didn't have that much discussion but it was good that we got some information what the ivory tower is working on.

    For the next meeting I have the following topics I'd like to hear some more about:
    - if its not released by then: What will the new PRD be capable of? I know its the holy grail but it would be great to hear more details about new features, architectural change, etc..
    - pentaho chart beans - new chart API, where will it be used (xactions, PRD, dashboards)
    - i hear rumors about reports and other things not needing a xaction anymore and a possible rewrite of the solution engine - is it true? tell us more....
    - new plugin system / web services .. what is it capable of and what usage scenarios do you have for that?

    Thanks Paul, I think it was a good start. This will be a regular event and there are enough topics to make it twice a month. James has volunteered to do a Platform architecture discussion that includes plugins, web services and how to reuse the platform infrastructure without building a big scary server. I have it tentatively set for May 27th.

    Thomas has said he wants to talk about PRD and reporting but needs more time. If we stick with the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, he would do it on June 10th. That brings up another discussion and I will start a new thread in the community area. Should we keep the same time and day - or rotate it so other timezones can participate more easily.

    I agree that the discussion part was pretty light - Pedro mentioned that too. Hopefully as we do this more, people will be less shy. I was disappointed that with so much talk in the IRC, everyone was so quite in the call. Maybe I should have said, "does anyone have anything they want to talk about" instead of "does anybody have any questions." Working with architects and developers on a daily basis, I never have to ask for opinions or feedback (usually we share way more than is needed) so that could be the fault of my weak meeting skills.

    These sessions should be two way so I would like to have community people present too. I asked Pedro if he would do a CDF one and he agreed that he would. Hopefully the PAT people will do the same.
