    Default Not able to correct Jsp

    Dear All,

    I am very new to Pentaho. I am experimenting with JSP dashboards. To start with, I just want to display a normal jsp page (with following hello world code) in Pentaho.

    <HTML>
    <BODY>
    Hello! The time is now <%= new java.util.Date() %>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    I am taking the "Top 10 Customers" dashboard provided under "Steel Wheels" as my guidance for this. Following the same pattern, I did the following.

    I first created a Internet Short named "Something_New" under the following folder :
    C:\Program Files\pentaho1\server\biserver-ee\pentaho-solutions\steel-wheels\dashboards

    I set the URL property for this Internet shortcut as http://ramesh_dashboard/ .

    Then I created a Something_New.properties file with following details.

    url_description=This is a Brand New Dashboard Created by Ramesh.
    url_name=Ramesh_Dashboard

    I then went to C:\Program Files\pentaho1\server\biserver-ee\tomcat\webapps\pentaho\jsp and created a file named Ramesh.jsp with the Hello world jsp code.

    <HTML>
    <BODY>
    Hello! The time is now <%= new java.util.Date() %>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    I then went to C:\Program Files\pentaho1\server\biserver-ee\tomcat\webapps\pentaho\WEB-INF and edited the web.xml file with the following code at appropraite places.

    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>ramesh_dashboard</servlet-name>
    <jsp-file>/jsp/Ramesh.jsp</jsp-file>
    </servlet>

    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>ramesh_dashboard</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/ramesh_dashboard</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

    After this, I stopped and started the BI server. I then logged into the pentaho portal and browsed to the "Steel Wheels\Dashboards" folder. I could correctly see the Ramesh_Dashboard file under this folder in the pentaho portal, but when I click on it, it is not correctly directing to the C:\Program Files\pentaho1\server\biserver-ee\tomcat\webapps\pentaho\jsp\Ramesh.jsp file.

    I just tried following the pattern of Steel Wheels\Dashboards\Top 10 Customers, but it did not work for me.

    Kindly help me with where I went wrong. Once I can get this fixed, I will then try integrating two pentaho reports into this Jsp file.

    Yours Sincerely,
    K.V.N.Ramesh

    Dear Tom,

    Thanks very much for the pointer. I will surely do that.

    Anyhow, with respect to my question, I want to understand one thing.
    For the steel-wheels sample dashboard named "Top 10 Customers" (available in pentaho portal -> Steel Wheel -> Dashboards folder), I could see that there is a internet shortcut by name "top_10_dashboard" in my C:\Program Files\pentaho1\server\biserver-ee\pentaho-solutions\steel-wheels\dashboards folder.
    When I right click and check the URL property of "top_10_dashboard", I see that it is set to http://previoushome/ .
    But one further analysis, I understand that it in fact points to C:\Program Files\pentaho1\server\biserver-ee\tomcat\webapps\pentaho\jsp\OldHome.jsp.

    Can somebody of you kindly tell me, how the internet shortcut "top_10_dashboard" is pointing to this OldHome.jsp while its URL property is set to http://previoushome/ ?

    Yours Sincerely,
    Ramesh
