    Default Oracle Single Database Solution

    Hi,

    Am new to work with Pentaho BI.At present I have to create Quartz,Hibernate and application specific database to work with Pentaho BI Server.Everything works fine.But can I use single database instead of having 3 Separate databases like Quartz,Hibernate and application specific database.
    If it is possible what configuration have to be done.Please help me in this regard as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance,
    Heriwn Rayen

    should be as simple as updating the hibernate mapping files i'd imagine.

    the normal approach would be that you have 1 instance (database) with several schemas

    1 schema represents 1 separate area... normally each user/each application has its own schema

    so it would be :
    instance (DB) name: ORCL
    + schema: USER1
    + schema: HIBERNATE
    + schema: QUARTZ

    usually you have 1 default user named like the schema. so for schema QUARTZ you use the user QUARTZ (whose default schema is QUARTZ of course)

    you gonna need to change e.g the biserver-ce/tomcat/webapps/pentaho/META-INF/context.xml

    my quartz config for oracle looks like that:
    Code:
        <Resource name="jdbc/Quartz" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource"
            factory="org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory" maxActive="20" maxIdle="5"
            maxWait="10000" username="quartz" password="password"
            driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.0.0.1:1521:orcl"
            validationQuery="select 1 from dual" />
    which means you connect to the instance ORCL with user quartz.
    because user quartz's default schema is quartz. it will work correctly

    for hibernate i just use a different user (with another default schema)
