Thread: Moving the jobs & transformations from one repository to another

Question Moving the jobs & transformations from one repository to another

    Hi everyone,

I have a question with regards to the repository. I am using version 3.2.0 and have all of my jobs and transformations in a development repository database.

My question is: how do I move the content of the repository database to another server? Is it just a matter of copying the content of all the tables? Or are there tables that hold information that is tied to the specific database instance?

I am asking this because I need to move the job definitions to a production sever. I am well aware of the 'Export / Import' facilities, but I am hesitant to use these as they still have a few bugs that make them incorrectly export the jobs & transformations (http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-2577, http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-2605)

    Thanks,

    Carlos Castro

The resource export as little to do with the repository exporter. Try it anyway.

In the future (2009/2010) we will provide an enterprise edition lifecycle manager that can migrate between repositories.

In the end, the safest way is probably to back up the database first, create a database dump (MySQL and all) and import the dump.
