Thread: Ad-Hoc does not filter Russian letters correctly

  1. #1

Default Ad-Hoc does not filter Russian letters correctly

    In Ad-Hoc reporting

I tried to add "Contains" or "Begins with" constraint for the text field with Russian letters. It does not filter correctly neither in Win-1251, nor in UTF-8, nor in \uXXXX, nor in XML format. I have tried also the FreeForm condition.

Latin letters and symbols (dash, dot etc) are filtered correctly in the same field.

We are using the stable CE of Pentaho with MS SQL Server 2005/2008 with JTDS driver.

    Can anybody help, please?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Try adding this to your server startup script... -Dfile.encoding="UTF-8"

Thanks a lot for the fast reply!

I will try this and answer here if it works.

    Added -Dfile.encoding="UTF-8" to CATALINA_OPTS in start-pentaho.bat.
Ad-hocs filters still not working with Russian.

    The same with -Dfile.encoding="CP1251"

Here is what I get after entering constraint:
    <constraint><operator></operator><condition><![CDATA[[CT_SUPERVISORS.BC_LSTASPIRANTSACADDEGREES_NAME] = "без степени"]]></condition></constraint>

    Now tried Dfile.encoding=Cp1251 and Dfile.encoding=UTF-8

The server seems to ignore either of these.

I would enter a JIRA case on this... please include a sample report too. Thanks.

Please, specify what particular artifacts I am to send to you as a sample report?

3.5 stable version checked -- it also has this bug
