Using Emails as Username?

Hi I was wandering I noticed that Partenrs Usernames are thier email addresses. Was wondering if this is the wisest choice

For the forums, JIRA and wiki; it is a bad choice. The user name is visible to all and will open them up for spam. In the Knowledge Base and SalesForce.com it shouldn't be a problem.

Is there any problem in using the email Id as username, is this will bring any impact to our email Id. If you have any idea then suggest.

I recommend not using an email address as a username.
