Question Problem moving null datetime data type to MSSQL 2008

We have a process that copies data from a MySQL db to a MSSQL db using PID version 2.5.1. The process has been in production for a number of years copying data to a MSSQL 2005 with no problems. Now, I am testing the same process with MSSQL 2008 and I get an error with all the null dates. I get the following error:
    2009/12/18 09:34:54 - Table output.0 - ERROR (version 2.5.2, build 252007 from 2007/11/05 11:20:37) : Unexpected batch update error committing the database connection: be.ibridge.kettle.core.exception.KettleDatabaseBatchException:

    2009/12/18 09:34:54 - Table output.0 - ERROR (version 2.5.2, build 252007 from 2007/11/05 11:20:37) : Error updating batch

2009/12/18 09:34:54 - Table output.0 - ERROR (version 2.5.2, build 252007 from 2007/11/05 11:20:37) : [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 15 (""): Data type 0x2A has an invalid precision or scale.

I have tested using the new data type datetime2 from mssql 2008 but get the same error. The only case when the process works is when the date fields are fully populated. Any suggestions?

The problem was solved by defining the field as a date data type in the select values step of the transformation.

Defining the field as a date data type in the select values step of the transformation did not work for me.
