If the meeting was held in North America, would people show up? We know for a fact that the European community is well established, but we never tried to hold this meeting on the other side of the lake.
Who is interested in the meeting being held in (just examples...) San Francisco, Toronto or New-York? cast your votes!

I think that's a great idea!
Lemme suggest a place: How's Austria sound like?

Pedro, I guess Austria is not yet assimilated by the Americans. And of course, a North-American community meeting does not mean that there cant be a European one as well.![]()

blimey, that is dedication!
We will definitely do a European one as is being discussed in this thread: http://forums.pentaho.org/showthread.php?t=75088
The question is about doing one in North America too.
Maybe making them 6 months apart for people who just can't get enough and want to go to both. A winter one in Orlando would be easy as would San Francisco. Any other venue and I will need help from someone local to that area. Chicago is kinda central for people, Canada or Mexico are possible too.
Any ideas?
Of course I'd be up for a North American meetup.
Until that happens... The MySQL conference (in Santa Clara every April) turns into an informal meetup of those interested in open source databases and BI. (Yes, even people who don't use MySQL in their day jobs.) So if you're heading to that, post a message on these forums and we'll see if we can get several people together.

Hi Folks,
I vote for Brazil in 2011.
We need a Pentaho Community Gathering in South America.
I prepare a list of things about Brazil.

OpenBI would be up for this. Of course, we'd be biased to Chicago -- primary benefit is that it is central to US and has a major airport hub.
Pentaho is having a partner meeting in San Francisco in June - If we tacked onto the weekend before or after, who would be able to make it?
