Portugal 2010 Gathering - Talk Proposals

Hi Guys,

Just setting up a quick thread where people can submit proposals for talks at this years Pentaho Community Gathering in Portugal. Add stuff to this thread and we will collate them all and post the ideas on the wiki..

Yup, me and paul will do a PAT run through and hopefully show off some of the new post 1.0 stuff.

I know someone that would like to present the results of a project : a rip & replace of 300+ Assential Datastage jobs to a brand new PDI project. The overview will include all sorts of project "best practices" advice, presentation of the plugins that were written, financial picture insights (<1y ROI), etc.

Since I've been involved in steering this one in the right direction (the big boys ALL have to go :-)) I was wondering if there was any interest in a talk like this. (very practical, no marketing, no name-dropping :-))

How about some sort of discussion about scrum / development approaches, and whats different about the way people develop with Pentaho to any other development? I'd happily explain our approach, but would like to hear others too?

I dunno if we're doing 1 days or 2 this year, I think 2 days would be better, either way, I've been asked if we could make it barcamp style and allow people to write ideas for flash talks on a wall and pick some on day 2, things like the ways people have implemented pentaho would be good for this sorta thing I guess.

Along with the "standard" PAT demo I'd also like to do a talk on collaborative BI.

As discussed on IRC already, I'd love to do a data mining session focused at Weka & possibly Kettle/Weka integration. Could be that it's going to be a joint presentation w. someone working on DM projects but that's not 100% sure yet, but make sure to count me in

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with this. I'd quite like to attend the event this year, but it is a long way to travel from NZ for just a few days.
