    Cool Changing Data Type

    Hi All

    I need to change the data type of input stream. I am using table input to get data. now i want to change the data type. Which control is used to change it?

    Hi,

    you can use "Select values" (Meta-data tab) to alter data type or directly make the convert in the table input step.

    if i want to change the datatype from VARCHAR 16byte to 32 byte...?? is it possible in pentaho..??

    And also how can we convert in the input step(as said by samatar)..??

    Considering that you are using a table input, sure you can convert directly overthere. Just apply the conversion as per your database language (CAST/CONVERT etc..). Refer to your database documentation to do so.
    As an example under SQL Server, if you have a datatype int that you want to convert as varchar(20):

    Select Cast(MyIntField as Varchar(20)) As MyVarcharField
    From Table
