Thread: Java 1.6

    Default Java 1.6

    Dear Kettle friends,

It's becoming harder to stay Java 1.5 compatible since more and more of the
libraries we depend upon are getting compiled with 1.6.
The reason for this is that official support for 1.5 was terminated a while
ago and probably also the fact that open source OpenJDK is on 1.6 too.
This makes 1.6 available to an unprecedented number of systems.

Because of all this I propose that we move Kettle trunk development (4.1) to
    a Java 1.6 compatible state.

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts or objections on this subject.
    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Matt

    Hi Kettle devs,

Since I didn't register a single complaint we're go for Java 1.6 in trunk.
    Thanks for your time.
