    Default Read-only user in 4.0.0

    Hello,
in version 3.2.0 it was possible to create read-only user in metadata repository. In version 4.0.0 I can't find such option. Is it removed from the Community Edition?

    Regards,
    Romans

    Hi Romans,

the "old" profiles and permissions (read-only, use jobs, use transformations, etc.) have gone in PDI 4.0 since the security is handled quite different in the new repository API. From taking a quick look at the code, it seems like user roles are not implemented (yet) and the database repository doesn't support ACLs at all.

That being said, looks like PDI 4.0 CE has lost this feature. Bit surprising, since Pentaho always stressed the backward compatibility. But maybe I'm missing something here...

    Ben

    Hi Ben,
thank you for the comment. It seems we should postpone upgrade to 4.0.0. until we found some solution for that. Are there some user management available in the Enterprise Edition?

    Regards,
    Romans

    Hi Romans,

I created a JIRA case for this: http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-4494

EE is a total different story, it should have a decent user management as far as I know.

    Regards,
    Ben
