    Cool Best way to .. Capture Rows that DON'T Make a JOIN.

    First thanks for looking and possibly answering.

    I am looking for input on what is the simplest, most elegant way to capture rows that don't make a Join operation.

    I have 2 sets A & B.

    I need 2 streams:

    -> records from A & B that join on a Key

    -> records from B that didn't make the join on a Key

    I have thought of a few ways but they all seem way more difficult than it needs to be.

    BTW both A & B are HUGE delimited files... not that wide but a lot of them regardless.

    Thoughts?

    Thx

    Hi Kent,

    how about using the Merge Join step and using a "FULL OUTER JOIN"? Further down the stream you can filter the rows that have no values in A key fields. These should be the ones that were not joinable.

    Cheers

    Hey Slawo!

    Sweet ... much more elegant than what I had worked up!

    Much admiration!

    Have a great day and once more the power of the PDI forum shines on through!
