    Default 3.7RC1 installation problem

    HI,
    I tried to install Pentaho3.7RC1 to evaluate Hadoop inetegration.
    However user console showed http:404 error and could not log in to enterprise console with admin/password.
    My environment is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop on Parrallels5 on Mac OSX 10.6.4.

    $ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_20"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
    $ echo $JAVA_HOME
    /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun[/HTML]Also added lines at below to /etc/environment file.
    JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun"
    CATALINA_OPTS="-Xms256m -Xmx768m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=3600000"

    And installed licence.
    $ cd /opt/pentaho/enterprise-console/
    $ ./install_license.sh install ~/Downloads/biserver-ee.lic
    /opt/pentaho/enterprise-console
    /opt/pentaho/enterprise-console
    DEBUG: Using JAVA_HOME
    DEBUG: _PENTAHO_JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
    DEBUG: _PENTAHO_JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/bin/java
    DEBUG: PENTAHO_INSTALLED_LICENSE_PATH=
    Subject: Pentaho BI Platform Enterprise Edition
    Begin: 10/09/28 0:00
    Expiration: 10/10/31 23:59

    Continue with license file installation? [y/N]y

    The license has been successfully processed. Thank you.

    Then strated Pentaho ;
    $ /opt/pentaho/biserver-ee/start-pentaho.sh

    And access to http://localhost:8080/pentaho/ from Firefox3.6.10
    It shows http:404 error.

    Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

    Hi, Marc and Sean from Pentaho here.

    Are you trying to access Pentaho User Console and Enterprise Manager on your Ubuntu environment from Mac OSX?

    If so you will need to change "localhost" to the ip address from localhost to the ip address of your Ubuntu VM.

    Also, to start the Enterprise Manager navigate to the enterprise-console (is it right next to bi-server) and run start-pec.sh

    Hope this helps,

    Sean

    And could not log in to enterprise console with admin/password after run start-pec.sh.

    Are you getting a 404 error acessing both User Console and Enterprise Console?

    User Console: http://localhost:8080/
    Enterprise Console: http://localhost:8088/

    Can you check the logs in bi-server/tomcat/logs/

    a 404 error is only from user console.
    Enterprise console popped up login dialog box, but log in denied with admin/password.

    For the Pentaho User Console (PUC), your MySQL is not running. For the Pentaho Enterprise Console (PEC), how are you running start-pec.sh? It must be executed from the directory in which start-pec.sh resides.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
    After I installed MySQL and run, the phenomenon is same.
    Also run PEC from the directory in which resides, the phenomenon is same.
    Are there any settings required for MySQL for Pentaho?

    Did you install Pentaho using the installer (i.e. pentaho-bi-suite3.7.0-RC1-i386.bin)? If so, MySQL should be installed for you. Make sure that you have only one copy of Pentaho running. The installer should start everything you need for you at the end of installation. Please attach tomcat/bin/pentaho.log (and PEC console output).

    I installed from biserver-ee-3.7.0-RC1.tar.gz.
    Could you point out the URL of installer file please.

    You mean that you submitted a request for trial licenses correct? I believe you can get the binary immediately. Where did you submit a request for trial licenses?

    I think Windows version can be downloaded immediately, but linux version can not be downloaded.
    After register information, the web page showed;
    "A sales representative will review your request within two business days and send details for the next steps toward evaluating Pentaho on Linux."

    Hi Jake,
    I've already got license keys.
    I need BIserver-ee3.7RC1 installer binary file for linux down load point.
    Because of I had a problem to install biserver-ee-3.7.0-RC1.tar.gz which did not work.

    Ah, I see. I will poke around and see what's going on. If I can't push it forward, I'll post the installer to the beta download location later today. Sorry for the inconvenience.
