Thread: PDI 3.2 hangs without logging

Question PDI 3.2 hangs without logging

    Hi all,

at customer site PDI hangs 3-4 times a month without any logging.
The ETL process is running every night and takes about 6 hours for the whole process.
Most of the time it works fine but sometimes it just hangs (no crash) without doing anything.
PDI is installed on a virtual windows machine and runs against Oracle RAC on Linux for both the source database and the datawarehouse.
The Oracle RAC is connected to PDI as pointed out here: http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/EAI/Oracle[/URL]
When PDI hangs it will occur (mostly!) in the attached transformation (sorry it's all in german).
The transformation reads data from stage and fact tables and combines them to check if the are changes made.
Also attched is the console output of PDI.

    What we have tested already:
We changed the start time of the process to see if there is a problem on 6:30 at customer site: no effect.
I set up an analog environment with a virtual windows server and PDI 3.2 but with a "normal" Oracle 11g database: I can not reproduce the error everything works fine.
We tried to activate a detailed logging but then PDI crashes shortly after start with "out of memory". We set up to 3GB RAM for PDI (OPT=-Xmx3072m in kitchen.bat).

    Some versions:
    PDI : 3.2.0
    virtual maschine: Windows Server 2003 R2 (64 bit) SP2, 4 GB RAM
    Java 64 bit 1.6.0_21-b06
    Oracle RAC 11g on Linux

    Any ideas on that?

    Thanks in advanced
    Joerg
